The Boston Globe Spotlight Team published on October 2, 2025 an in depth report with patient details and timelines of the alleged abuse by the former Boston rheumatologist. Close to 250 former patients — women and men — accuse Todd of sexual abuse under the guise of necessary breast and pelvic exams.
Thompson leads the Lubin & Meyer team that represents more than 200 patients. On October 11, 2023, Thompson filed a class action lawsuit that consolidated many of the cases against Todd.
In the Globe report Thompson states:
“There were many people working closely with him, overseeing and supervising him, and there were red flags. There are layers and layers of bureaucracy at each hospital, and yet it seems those in positions to stop him were asleep at the wheel.”
The rheumatologist saw patients at three facilities: Brigham & Women's Hospital, Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital, and Charles River Medical Associates in Framingham. The Globe exposed that patients claim Todd's abuse happened even after investigations into his actions were underway.
The article points a finger at the Board of Registration of Medicine for not acting more quickly and for not immediately suspending his license when he was put on leave by the Brigham.
The Globe writes: "The civil suits name as co-defendants more than two dozen medical
professionals who allegedly knew or should have known about Todd. The
Spotlight Team reached out to every co-defendant who allegedly received a
report about Todd."
Said Thompson, “To contend that no one at these hospitals had any idea what he was doing is preposterous and illogical.”
